What inspires you?

Sunset in ItalyMany of us might say initially we are inspired by a Sunset or sunrise, a breathtaking view, the laughter of a small child. The list is endless and there is no right or wrong answer to this question.

Inspiration changes with age and circumstance in life, what inspired you yesterday may not do so today. It doesn’t matter really, it’s about you on a very personal level, what moves you deep inside.

I’m not talking about the leaders of this world or perceived leaders that have these incredible stories of courage, strength and resilience that continue on under unbelievable circumstances, no I’m talking about you. What inspires you from day to day to get up and keep going?

I don’t know of anyone who consciously goes to Facebook each morning to check out an inspirational story to get you going.

Yes, you may come across one in your feed if you like watching them. Let’s face it some of them look staged, sad that even something so pure as inspiration can be exploited.

The dictionary definition of inspiration is cold and detached, as far as I’m concerned.

Inspiration is a noun

  • The process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative.
  • A sudden brilliant or timely idea.

Every accomplishment today on earth is based on inspiration to some degree, inspiration is the starting point, whether it’s something we have read that moves us, an idea that evolves and changes the world or getting over a fear we have.

Get inspired by small things

Most action or motivation is created by inspiration of some degree, for it to work we must quiet the noise in our minds. That morning coffee or tea, sitting quietly alone in the cool morning air can be a very powerful time. It’s at that moment you decide what your day is going to be like, don’t underestimate its power. Are you going to pump inspiration into it? Are you going to look for inspiration in it?

This image below was taken while overseas, we were walking along a footpath at sunset. On the Esplanade I saw this backdrop, and a man intently reading his phone, sitting on a small wall. It was some distance away and I had to wait for a break in the traffic. It was one of those moments, I could have easily not taken it, my camera didn’t have the capability for the shot. However I took it anyway, because the image was imprinted in my mind. This was the result, it looks like a painting… sometimes it just works.

Not all of us I know have the luxury of sitting outside in the cool morning air, watching the steam rise from out hot drink, contemplating the day’s activities. Many are woken with a crying baby or wake up so early and have that morning cuppa on the run.

The point here is to find a moment to reset, to think about what inspires you, take note. It could be just sitting in traffic and all the cars in front of you have their signals all blinking in unison, let it register in your mind. Be aware of what is happening around you, no matter how small and insignificant it may appear. You may be the only one who witnesses it. Be inspired by simple random moments.

Take note today and see what inspires you, moves you, makes you act. When you lay in your bed tonight, think about the day’s events and count the inspirations you had. If you think you didn’t have any look harder tomorrow.

Inspiration a powerful motivator

Everything that exists today has been inspired to some degree, you can’t separate inspiration from it. Everything starts with an idea. What inspires you?

The measure of who we are is what we do with what we have.  ~ Vince Lombardi ~

Is a partner a retirement plan

The reality is, life isn’t easy for a female even in the west. We are paid less, which equates to less in retirement income. Climbing the corporate ladder is still a challenge for women and is reflected in most industries. However, the purpose here is not to discuss the plight of women, we all know that the utility companies don’t reduce our power bills because we are female.

I remember reading somewhere or it was alluding to the notion, that woman shouldn’t view a husband or partner a retirement plan. Unfair? Yes… to a certain extent, particularly when large chunks of our working life are taken up with having and looking after our children or even our parents. Which means there is no retirement fund building through paid employment.

Learn to look after yourself

The truth is, we women need to take control, and look after ourselves, life is full of twists and turns and we could find ourselves on the outer, and alone… without an income. It can happen to any of us and is happening to thousands right now.

It’s always about the money…

It’s always about money, income or the lack of it. Looking after ourselves means creating an income now and for the future. It can be done, you can learn how to look after yourself. Being employed at a traditional job means your income is pinned to so much per hour, per week, per year.

Your nest eggIf you are female, single and over forty, how is that going for you??

You’ve got that nest egg set up for your future retirement? Career is going well, great income, life is good! No worries life is just going along smoothly. Out with the girls on the weekends and I do have a partner, weekends away, what more could a girl want?

That’s wonderful you need not read any further…

Just a minute, fast forward twenty years, you are now sixty plus, retirement is looming, that nest egg isn’t that big, in fact it’s not going to be enough for the next couple of decades. You’ve been struggling the last few years, finding work has been a real challenge. Your health could be better, but you manage ok. You’ve been single for a while, no shared expenses, and you prefer it that way.

Perhaps you would rather not think about the future…

There is a solution

The only way is to create an online business, a digital business where the only ceiling on income is the one you put on yourself. This is a business model that is working for many women, there is equality and you can create a secure lifestyle for yourself.

Does it take work? Yes, it does, it’s not a get rich quick scheme, it’s not multilevel marketing, it requires dedication and commitment. You must learn the ropes, you will make mistakes and feel frustrated, however you will have support and mentors to model off. Woman and men have succeeded and are living a secure lifestyle which everyone deserves.

Do you feel stuck?

Recently I was walking along my local beach and I saw a woman with a baby in a pram bend down, and picked something up from the sand, and place it back in the sea. As I walked past I said, “Was it a small crab? No… she said, a little fish stranded on the beach.” I continued walking and glanced back to see her walk back down to the sea, and place something else into the water. It got me thinking about feeling stranded or stuck…

Usually in the marine world anything washed up or stranded on the beach, is there for a reason, and although we may attempt to rescue the poor creature, eventually it ends up stranded further along the beach.

It’s a bit like life, we sometimes feel stranded or stuck or even isolated. Although surrounded by people and activities and responsibilities, we don’t feel part of what’s going on.

It’s my opinion, based on decades of life…  that’s where we are supposed to be. Stuck… because we are not ready to move forward. Stranded because we are not ready to be thrown back into the sea of action.  Isolated because we are still processing new ideas or processing different ways of thinking … hopefully it will only be for a short while. We are where we need to be now…

A change of attitude and action can seem to happen almost overnight. But I don’t believe this is strictly true, many times its proceeded by a period of growth and not always pleasant. Life isn’t filled with rainbows and lollipops. At times we need to change our thinking and thought patterns, this takes time and can be mentally painful.

“Live and love yourself forever, because we are all stuck with what we are.”

~ M.F Moonzajer ~

For example, if you must decide about something, you may resist the change even though you know it’s inevitable. Resistance is not necessarily being stubborn. For whatever reason you are not ready to move forward, this process can’t be hurried. Unless you are standing on the edge of a cliff and someone is chasing you with an ax, and the only way to escape is by jumping in the sea. If you resist here, you may end up on the CI (Criminal Investigation) channel.

“As long as you’re moving, it’s easier to steer.”

I look over the years and see a pattern of behaviour in myself, a pattern of cycles starting from my youth, to this very moment in time. We can be too hard on ourselves during these periods of change and beat ourselves up for not moving forward, or taking ‘massive action’ a popular phase that is frequently used.

Gillian CallcottYou can’t hurry this process, it takes time… especially if you are working on yourself.

A break through usually happens when you have reached your capacity.

Take care and be kind to yourself, you will become unstuck in due course.

Life is a cycle, which includes your emotions.

Life changing event

What life changing events have impacted your income?

What will happen if you get sick and can’t work? What will happen if you have an accident and can’t work? How will you look after your family? How will you look after you?

This is happening right now to thousands of people worldwide. Some have insurance or funds in the bank to carry them for a while till you get back on their feet.

Maybe you have 3-6 months of funds, you have that buffer zone. Others aren’t so fortunate. Perhaps you never got around to setting anything up or have a pre-existing condition that prevents you from any type of insurance. Once you are on their database, that’s it!

It doesn’t matter how you arrive at this point, you’re here now, and its little comfort to say…. Oh, I did prepare, but my insurance is running out or, I didn’t have enough insurance to lead a comfortable life. We have all reached the same point, we have had a major life changing event. And it doesn’t matter what it is.

However, there will be some people in your circle of influence full of criticism and judgment because of your circumstances and these maybe people very close to you. This is the last thing you need during a stressful event, but unfortunately that’s when they sometimes come.

Finding another option

Perhaps your accident or illness stops you from working your previous career. You can work and you are searching to do something while coming to terms with your change of circumstance, change of lifestyle and change of income.

Or maybe you now have a long-term illness that will require on going treatment or you would like to investigate other therapies regarding your health. Without an income, this will be a challenge or maybe out of the question.

It really doesn’t matter what the reasons are, or how you got there, you now must find a way of creating an income. You don’t want to be worrying about making ends meet for the rest of your life.

Creating a new income stream

There are many opportunities available online and the beauty of a digital business model is that you only need an internet connection, a laptop and a small amount of capital compared to traditional business models.

I’m speaking to people like yourself, because I have a long-term illness and needed to find a business model that would work for me and my current circumstances. It took me time to come to the realisation of what my future lifestyle would be without an income.

I’ve been online for many years and have made some income..

However, some of the online business models I’ve worked at, didn’t always stand up to scrutiny, there was something missing.  In some cases, there was no longevity, after a short time they literally evaporated and disbanded their people. In addition some had questionable tactics the were at odds with who I was.

So, I started looking for an ethical business model, that had been around for a few years, with a community of people that I could relate to, along with leaders that were involved and were interested and wanted you to succeed. Leaders that kept in contact with their people.

I found a business model which allows me to be myself, it doesn’t stamp me with a cookie cutter, I can still do what I love, be who I am, while earning and learning. This business model took a while to sink in, I was so use to other online business models that wanted to herd you into a tight niche without allowing you to be who you are.

If this describes what you would love in an online business, I encourage you to subscribe to my email list and receive one video per day for seven days. These videos will give you a feel for what this is all about.
